New York, NY, August 11, 2017 –(PR.com)– Healthy Humor, the performing arts organization whose performers create moments of joy, wonder, laughter and comfort for hospitalized children and all others who are most in need, is delighted to announce a major new partnership with Moose Toys, the Australian-based toy design, development and distribution company; which will enable Healthy Humor to launch Red Nose Docs, its flagship healthcare clowning program, at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the oldest pediatric hospital in the United States. The program will start operating at the hospital in the fall, joining 11 other pediatric hospitals across the country that are part of the Healthy Humor family.

Dina Paul-Parks, CEO of Healthy Humor, states, “We are thrilled to be embarking on this journey with two amazing partners. We are very grateful to Moose Toys for their commitment to children in need and their faith in us to serve them; and we are excited that our Red Nose Docs will soon be making rounds at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which has become synonymous with excellence and innovation. We look forward to contributing to its world-renowned success by offering up our special brand of humor, joy and comfort to its young patients and their circle of caregivers for many years to come.”

Moose Toys, a global toy-manufacturing company with products sold in more than 80 countries around the world, is committed to making hospital clowning a pillar of its investment in the communities it serves. Moose has been supporting Healthy Humor’s sister organization – The Humour Foundation – in Australia for many years. This new partnership with Healthy Humor is its first foray into healthcare clowning in the US as it seeks a foothold to serve America’s children now and in the future.

In a statement, Belinda Gruebner, Moose Toys’ Executive Vice President, Global Marketing, said, “At Moose Toys, we are in the business of making children happy. And that is why our partnership with Healthy Humor and their amazing Red Nose Docs in hospitals is a perfect fit. We have been humbled to see the team of Red Nose Docs in action, and their humor, empathy and ability to bring joy to children, their parents, and siblings – extending right through to the nursing staff and doctors – is incredibly inspiring!”

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is perennially ranked among the very top pediatric hospitals in the country.

“We are excited to bring Red Nose Docs to the patients and families at CHOP,” said Elana Brewer, Senior Director, Child Life Programs and Volunteer Services. “We are always looking for new ways to bring more smiles and joy to our patients and families, and we look forward to partnering with Healthy Humor Inc. and the Red Nose Docs to further that mission.”

About Healthy Humor
Healthy Humor, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in July 2016 by three alumni of the Big Apple Circus Clown Care program with more than 60 combined years in healthcare clowning: Dina Paul-Parks (CEO), Karen McCarty (Artistic Director) and Deborah Kaufmann (Director of Training and Education). The aim of these three was to build on the 30-year legacy of Clown Care, the program created by Michael Christensen, co-founder of the Big Apple Circus and creator of healthcare clowning. Healthy Humor now employs more than 50 performers making "clown rounds" in pediatric facilities across the country.

Children in pediatric hospitals often feel fear, anxiety, sadness and isolation. Healthy Humor’s flagship program, Red Nose Docs, offers the magic of healthcare clowns to help alleviate the stress of a hospital stay for young patients and their circle of caregivers. Using an array of circus and theater skills, professional, specially-trained performers work in teams of two to create spontaneous, joyful encounters, reintroducing play and fun as natural parts of life. The program currently operates in 11 other hospitals across the country: Yale- New Haven Children’s Hospital, Saint Barnabas Medical Center (Livingston, NJ), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, Harlem Hospital, Jacobi Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, Children’s National Medical Center, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (Miami, FL), La Rabida Children’s Hospital (Chicago, IL) and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
