Motorcycle Therapy Program for Wounded and Amputee Veterans and their Partners offer Veterans Nationwide the opportunity to ride together to America’s largest Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
MOAB, UT, July 21, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Sixteen veterans from across the nation will arrive in Moab on July 28 and spend seven days participating in Motorcycle Therapy rides, Adventure activities and Veteran to Veteran discussions before they embark on their cross country ride to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. Keith Helfrich, Sgt. Major, Army Special Forces (Ret), a returning veteran mentor describes the Veterans Charity Ride(VCR) simple but very effective program, “The rides and outdoor adventure activities, and just being with other veterans in this serene environment, organically creates camaraderie and discussions that lead to a very healing experience, and that’s not easy for veterans to find anywhere else.”
The ‘America, Get Out and Ride’ initiative is made possible by the collaborative efforts of the sponsors and partners who have brought their support to the Veterans Charity Ride program. Indian Motorcycle will provide support and the big V-Twins the Veterans ride and pilot attached Champion Sidecar rigs which carry the veterans who are unable to ride due to their injuries. Founder Dave Frey commented, “The close partnership between Indian and the VCR program has helped change and save hundreds of veteran lives over our seven (7) year relationship. We and our fellow veterans couldn’t ask for a better partner to help us with our mission.”
Jared Thomas, Staff Sgt., Army Combat Medic (Ret), returning veteran mentor and Road Captain explains VCR’s Special Mission: “Our fellow veterans and the nation at large have been cooped up and isolated for the past 18 months. We’re inviting fellow veterans, supporters and America to Get Out and Ride with the VCR veterans from designated stops along our route, culminating in the largest group of veteran riders descending on the Opening Ceremony of the 81st Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Aug. 6th at 2:30PM hosted at Sturgis Indian Motorcycle 2130 Main St., Sturgis, SD. We will be broadcasting our specific location, route and meetup spots on Veterans Charity Ride website, Facebook, Rever.co and across social media for three days Wednesday Aug. 4th through Friday Aug. 6th.
